Our Story

Even though Ayurveda is one of the oldest systems of healing, there was no centre in Australia that provides Ayurvedic products to people who wished to incorporate the values of this ancient science into their daily lives.

Surya Ayurveda was established by Dr. S. Ajit with a mission to provide high quality Ayurvedic products to the Australasian market.

Dr. Ajit has more than 43 years of clinical experience and is the most experienced Ayurvedic Doctor practicing in Australasia. He is also the only Ayurvedic Doctor outside India who has worked for the Government of India as an Ayurvedic Medical Officer for over 19 years.

From this experience he has developed a deep understanding of Ayurvedic traditional formulations as well as in depth knowledge of most of the Ayurvedic companies operating in India.

Dr. Ajit

Dr. Ajit Singh graduated with Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (B.A.M.S.) from Punjabi University. For over 18 years he worked for the Government of India in various positions in both Ayurvedic hospitals and pharmacies.

In 1996, he moved to New Zealand with the dream of bringing Ayurveda to the West. He is the founder and director of Planet Ayurveda (www.planetayurveda.co.nz), one of the largest Ayurvedic clinics in Australasia. With his employment background with Indian Government, his extensive teaching experience and continuous clinical practice for over 43 years in both India and New Zealand he is one of the most experienced Ayurvedic doctor in the region. Dr. Ajit is also a specialist in Panchkarma therapy and his centre in Auckland is one of the few therapeutic Panchkarma Clinics outside India.

With his wife, Rippan Sandhu, he developed the “Ayurda,” (www.ayurda.com), the first ayurvedic skin care range based on authentic formulations from the Vedas, the ancient texts of India. The range is being marketed in Australia New Zealand and overseas countries such as USA and Europe.

In 1999, he established the Australasian Institute of Ayurvedic Studies in Australia and New Zealand (www.aiasinstitute.com.au). As a Registered Training Organization under the Australian Skills Quality Authority it provides nationally credited courses in Ayurveda that offer the most comprehensive curriculum in the study of Ayurvedic Medicine outside India.

He is currently CEO of the International Council of Ayurvedic Medicine Inc, an organization established to standardize and streamline the educational, teaching and regulatory standards for Ayurvedic practice in the world outside of India. He was also founding Patron of the Australasian Ayurvedic Practitioners Association (AAPA), past and founding president of Australasian Ayurvedic Practitioners Association (New Zealand), both professional bodies for Ayurvedic practitioners, and is a founding member and chief executive officer of International Council of Ayurvedic Medicine Inc (ICAM) Australia.

He has been instrumental in raising the profile of Ayurveda in Australasia, not only through his teaching and practice but through his numerous speaking engagement, media work and meetings with Government officials. His efforts have been recognised with a number of awards, most recently a Lifetime Achievement Award from the New Zealand Charter of Health Practitioners (2008).

Our mission is to create “wellness chain” around Australia by passing the message of health and wellbeing through quality ayurvedic products with the wisdom of Ayurveda to prevent these ailments.

Vision

To take the message of the ancient, authentic science of Ayurveda of wellbeing to live with awareness and be solution provider for the challenging needs of the health sector by making authentic and quality ayurvedic products available to all practitioners.

Our vision is not limited to the use of authentic ayurvedic products by ayurvedic practitioners but every health practitioner who has passion and commitment to help their clients with best available health care products that correct the root cause and not just mask the symptoms.
