A. marmeloshas been reported to contain several phytoconstituents mainly marmenol, marmin, marmelosin, marmelide, psoralen, alloimperatorin, rutaretin, scopoletin, aegelin, marmelin, fagarine, anhydromarmelin, limonene, alpha-phellandrene, betulinic acid, marmesin, imperatorin, marmelosin, luvangentin and auroptene.

Extensive experimental and clinical studies prove that A. marmelos possesses antidiarrhoeal, antimicrobial, antiviral, radioprotective, anticancer, chemopreventive, antipyretic, ulcer healing, antigenotoxic, diuretic, antifertility and anti-inflammatory properties, which help it to play role in prevention and treatment of many diseases (1).
